Combustion Jet Testing Protocol: Position the battery as indicated in section 4.5. 1. The specified testing method involves placing the fully charged battery on the wire mesh of the test apparatus. Refer to the designated test equipment.Appendix E.2. If during the testing process the battery slips, it is permissible to secure the battery sample to the wire mesh using a single wire. If slippage does not occur,, then do not secure the battery; instead, expose it to the flame. Thermal battery condition, when it manifests,
cease heating under the following three conditions:
A) Battery explosion
B) Battery is fully incinerated
C) After 30 minutesof continuous heating,if the battery neither catches fire nor explodes.
Components of the battery post-testing (excluding dust-form products) are required toensure the battery as a whole does not breach the aluminum mesh.
